Tour The Port with Marian Darlington-Hope; focusing on the manufacturing history, and workers’ lives in The Port, through time. Tour starts in front of Lamplighter Brewing Company at 5:30pm sharp. Please show up by 5:25.
6:45–8:00pm History Café:
Cayla Marvil will tell Lamplighter’s story of making beer in Cambridge today. Learn about their unique brewing process, while sampling their tasty brews. Marian Darlington-Hope and Robin Harris will join Cayla in conversation, bringing the historical perspective about families’ and workers’ lives in The Port.
Cayla Marvil is the co-founder of Lamplighter Brewing Co; Cambridge’s newest microbrewery, which opened in September 2016. Cayla has been home brewing for 10+ years, has a degree in Brewing Technology and a BA in Mathematics. She’s a proud Cambridge resident and is thrilled to be sharing her passion for beer and brewing with the local neighborhood and community.
Dr. Marian Darlington-Hope is owner of Global Learning Partners, teacher, community activist, and life-long resident of The Ward/Area 4 neighborhood of Cambridge.
Robin Harris is the long-time principal of Cambridge’s Preschool-Grade 5 Fletcher Maynard Academy on Windsor Street. She is widely recognized for her educational vision and her dedication to her students, and is also a 5th-generation (!) Cantabrigian.
