Cambridge has had a long history of the performing arts, dating all the way back to 1795 with the creation of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard. Cambridge has been fortunate to experience many kinds of performing arts, ranging from street performance to ballet theatre, from amateur groups to professional. This website will explore both the traditional and non-traditional performing arts that have been part of the city’s history, with a particular focus on Harvard Square.
