As glaciers retreated from the North American continent 10,000 years ago, they left behind vast deposits of clay in North Cambridge. Roughly 9,800 years later, that clay shaped not only an industry, but the social and economic lives of North Cantabrigians both old and new and left an environmental legacy with which we still contend.

Biographies:

Doug Brown
Doug Brown is a local history lover fascinated by the stories of North and West Cambridge. He is on the Society’s Governing Council, and he is the founder of Friends of the Greenway, Inc., a non-profit focused on creating exceptional public spaces.

Joe Galusha
Joe Galusha is an Instructional Technologist at Simmons College with an academic background focusing on the historical intersections of social, gender, and labor history at the local level.

Eric Grunebaum
Eric Grunebaum is the Chief Business Development Officer at TeraCool LLC, an industrial energy efficiency startup. He is also a Cambridge Energy Advisor to commercial and industrial solar energy installations, LED energy efficiency retrofits and CHP projects.
