Shred Old Troubles, Share New Hopes
We’re leaving 2020 behind (THANK GOODNESS!). Say goodbye to this colossally awful year and welcome the new year with Cambridge Historical society. This has been tough year for literally the entire world. This is your chance to commemorate your own journey and move into 2021 with a fresh perspective.
Our original plan was to acquire (and then set fire to) a dumpster, but that posed logistical problems. So instead, we are offering you the opportunity to write down and then shred a memory, loss, or regret from 2020. We also invite you to write down on seeded paper what you are taking into 2021. Then take home your goals, wishes, and dreams, plant them, and watch them grow.
“2020 has been a tough year for pretty much everyone,” says Executive Director Marieke Van Damme. “We wanted a way to help people process that, commemorate it, and let it go.”
Drop by Cambridge Historical Society to write down the things you wish to leave behind from 2020. Your thoughts will be run through a shredder and recycled. Then write down your hopes, dreams, and wishes on a piece of seeded paper – all that you have learned and gained from 2020 that you want to take with you into 2021. Take home your fresh perspective and plant it. Then tag us on social media with photos of your seedlings as they grow using #seedlingsofhope
